From the Gem Library: Ocean Jasper is the most popular type of Orbicular Jasper however, it is actually not a true Jasper but a rare type of ryholite found only in the shores of Madagascar. It is an exotic and unique stone, with more than one mineral, which has been formed over millions of years under extreme temperatures and pressures. This type of rhyolite is known for its color combinations, ranging from pale pink and white to deep green and black, and its orb-like patterns that resemble Orbicular Jasper thus gaining its widely accepted trade name, Ocean Jasper.
